Recently, the SJ Boys Read! boys volunteered at a BookSmiles event held at the St. Anthony of Padua School in Camden. Hundreds of books were handed out to unprivileged children in the area!
The boys of SJ Boys Read! have partnered with BookSmiles to run book drives in the Moorestown area throughout the year. We believe that reading books that are fun, interesting, and challenging should be available to anyone, no matter their socioeconomic status.
BookSmiles collects, sorts, and redistributes donated books to benefit under-served students in NJ and Philadelphia, as well as to teachers for their classrooms. The organization describes their goal as "irrigating book deserts" in underserved areas by reallocating literary resources from wealthier communities.
